As part of our learning about the Roman Empire, Year 5 took part in an exciting virtual workshop with the London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE, giving them the opportunity to step back in time and discover what life was like in Roman London, almost 2,000 years ago!
During the workshop, the children became history detectives as they explored a selection of Roman artefacts and had the chance to get hands-on with these fascinating objects. They carefully examined each item, looking for clues about its appearance, materials and possible purpose. Using their observation skills and historical knowledge, they made predictions about what the objects might have been used for and what they could tell us about everyday life in Roman times.
It was a fantastic opportunity to bring our Roman history topic to life and deepen our understanding of the people who lived, worked and spent their time in Londinium.
Can you work out what some of these objects might have been used for? Take a closer look at the photographs and see if you can solve the mystery! If you’re not sure, ask a friendly Year 5 pupil to help you – they might just be our resident Roman experts!
