Local Advisory Board

Each school within the Primary Advantage Federation has a Local Advisory Board that meets regularly to support the Headteacher and Executive Principal in making strategic decisions that will improve outcomes for pupils. The Local Advisory Board meet regularly to support and challenge the school to continue to provide children with a high quality education.

They look at outcomes for all pupils across our schools and look at how well our children are doing compared to children nationally. They also receive finance reports, health and safety reports, curriculum reports and help the school to make decisions that will benefit our school community. Our Local Advisory Boards are made up of Staff, Parent and Community Members.

The St John & St James’ C of E Primary School LAB works with the Headteacher and the school leadership team to help provide the best opportunities for all SJSJ pupils.

The specific responsibilities of the Local Advisory Board include:

  • Working with the Headteacher to set the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

We are proactively and enthusiastically involved in the life of the school and meet regularly both as a central governing board and through committees that are responsible for overseeing key areas of the school. Individual governors also act as link governors working with members of staff to focus on specific aspects of the school.

The Governors can be contacted via email on governors@primaryadvantage.hackney.sch.uk

St John & St James’ C of E LAB Business & Pecuniary Interest Information

The decision-making processes of the Local Advisory Board should be conducted, and seen to be conducted, in an objective and unbiased manner. The LAB and school staff have a responsibility to avoid any conflict between business and personal interests and the interests of the school. To help put this duty into practice and to meet legal requirements, all maintained schools maintain a register of pecuniary and business interests. The register will ensure that governors’ and associate members personal interests do not unfairly prejudice, influence or conflict with school’s decision making processes.
