Green Team

Our School Green Team helps to lead and shape our school’s approach to caring for our environment.

This year, we will focus on developing a greener and more sustainable school community, with a particular focus on recycling, nature and biodiversity and reducing our use of electricity. Our aim is to help everyone at St John and St James understand the important role we can all play in caring for our school, our local environment and the wider world. The Green Team will work alongside staff to develop and support environmental initiatives, encouraging our whole school community to make positive changes to the way we use resources, reduce waste and care for the natural world around us. We will explore practical ways to improve recycling, protect and encourage biodiversity within our school grounds, and reduce unnecessary electricity use, helping children and adults to develop sustainable habits that can make a meaningful difference.

The School Green Team will support our environmental work by:

  • Leading and supporting recycling initiatives across the school.
  • Helping to raise awareness of how we can reduce waste and reuse resources.
  • Encouraging everyone to switch off lights, screens and electrical equipment when they are not being used.
  • Sharing ideas and messages with children and adults about how we can make more environmentally friendly choices.
  • Helping to monitor and celebrate our progress in recycling, reducing electricity use and supporting biodiversity.
  • Encouraging everyone across our school community to take responsibility for caring for our environment and making our school a greener place.
