In maths this week, Year 1 have been exploring position and direction, focusing on using mathematical phrases to describe the location and movements of objects. The children began by exploring the positions, left and right, and they quickly noticed that these are easier to identify when your body is facing the same direction as the object being described. The class enjoyed playing a game of Simon Says to reinforce their learning, using the left and right side of their bodies, before working in small groups to give and follow simple directions to help the Beebots travel around the maps.
