In Year 4, we explored the Industrial Revolution and discovered how it changed Britain. We examined historical pictures and made predictions about new inventions, factories and what life was like during this period. We discussed pollution, social classes and the rise of child labour, thinking carefully about how the Industrial Revolution affected different groups of people.
We also explored the connection between the British Empire and the cotton industry, learning how cotton produced by enslaved people in America was transported to Britain and made into cloth and thread. We worked together to create maps showing this journey and developed a deeper understanding of how people, places and industries were connected. We showed great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout our learning!
