Earlier this term, Year 4 had the opportunity to visit Year 2 to share our wonderful cinquain poems inspired by Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga. We explored the themes of the story, thinking about the journey of a new girl who felt nervous and unsure about starting a new school but gradually began to feel more comfortable and welcomed. We created our own cinquain poems to express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas about finding a sense of belonging.
We were incredibly proud to stand in front of Year 2 and confidently read our poems aloud. We used our oracy skills by speaking clearly, reading with expression, and listening respectfully to one another. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our creativity, share our writing, and demonstrate how much our confidence has grown as both speakers and writers. Year 2 was a wonderful audience, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing our work with them.
